In a nutshell...
The Misfit Zipperteeth from Ellienias is a Wishborn Plushcritter, with the sole exception of being an existing plush that was brought to life, rather than being created. His design is basically a chibified version of a character named Mischief Zippertooth .
Misfit (and Mischief) comes from the show Zippertooth'd. In canon, they was created in a toy factory that wasn't given a specific name, as the writer figured is was superfluous. Misfit was made as a one off joke as bootleg merchandise for Mischief Zippertooth (not to be confused with his "brother", Mischief Zipperteeth). The design caught on quite a bit outside of the show, surprisingly, with people making fanmade versions of the plush. Eventually, the folks behind the show caught on and did a promotional stunt to give away 1,000 official plushies of Misfit... so... an official bootleg, if you will!
It's not clear who made the Wish, and it's unclear if the Wish was for the plush itself or Misfit as a character would be real. Since the Wish that brought Misfit was a bit vauge, the 1,000 plushies made became sentient. Not only that but the Flux generated from the Miracle that did that also scattered the 1,000 across the entire Exstellarverse, even interdimensionally and transcending time itself. The prasing was probably really off, too, so... unsanctioned wish, odd phrasing, there you go. Surprisingly, one (that we know of) managed to stay on Ellienias itself. This particular Misfit plush was #42 of 1,000. It's also unclear how many of the 1,000 are on Ellenias or elsewhere. The weirdest part is that it doesn't matter which one you talk to. They all share the same mind. You tell one anything and any of the others can immediately recite back what they heard, no matter how far apart they are in place OR time.
So, what's up with this guy?
Misfit is pretty child-ish acting on the outside, but inwardly, he's observant and a bit cunning. Don't underestimate 'em because of his size. What he lacks in strength, he makes up for in crazy improv. He does like to make people laugh, though, and is generally friendly... at least to people that are friendly to him.
He loves to pull pranks and gags and such. If he's goofing with you, he's already your friend. Huge fan of "batsu games". (Look up "Gaki No Tsukai No Laughing" to get an idea. That kinda show!)
He can be pretty spiteful towards people that judge him on appearance or what have you. If you fall under one of The Three R's (The Rich, The Rude and The Ridiculous), you'll learn to hate him, as he will go out of his way not to attack you or anything, but to annoy you to the point of misery.
As for hobbies, he actually will try a lot of different "for fun" things. If it sounds fun, he's in. Also, if you wanna play videogames, board games, any kinda games, he'll probably be sitting at a chair and saying somethin' like "deal me in, deal me in!" even if it doesn't involve cards. He also a bit of a thrillseeker, so he likes to do some rather daredevil stuff, albeit he'll fail often. It's pretty great to watch, though. You can laugh at 'em when he does fail! He'd want it that way. Plushies don't have bones to break, so hey.
He's also got a morbid addiction to games of chance. He can and will gamble for as long as possible. There has been more than one occasion where he became rich on one game, as he's a rather luck guy... and then subsequently lost it all on the next game. I think he's just in it for the high you get betting it all.
...Oh! And his "munchie" (as all Plushcritters have one) is cheese. He loves cheese.
Lemme guess, he can fight, too?
Seems like they all can, right? :P So yes.
In a fight, he relies on a variety of tricks, a lot of which me makes himself. One favorite of his is his Smoke Bomb Type-MZ's and his Flint and Steel Rings he uses to light them (among other things). He also is really skilled at wielding his Yo-yo as a weapon or as a means of improvised grapple hook. Despite being a Plushcritter, he doesn't seem to employ the same ability to use toys as weapons by imagination. Not that he lacks imagination, if his graffiti is anything to go by, he just doesn't seem to be able to or (more likely) just hadn't thought to.
If he's really angry, he can also use needles he's laced in his hands and feet as claws or outright shoot them like little angry plushie bullets. It honestly takes a LOT to get him to that point. He's really easy going, albeit trouble. Alternatively, that's also he he's able to scale a lot of walls with minimal foothold space.
Where are the other 999 Misfits?
Well, it's said that 986 are left alive. No one really knows what happened to the other 14, but one was speculated to be spawned in the Eris System's sun, Eris. Ouch. Poor number #404... As for the living ones, well, if you see one where it "shouldn't be", that's why. We do know a little about some of them, though!
There are some notable Misfit's you might find interesting, if you've read this far into the page. :P If you're curious how anyone knows, well, #42 likes to talk about the others often.
Number | Location |
---|---|
#7 | Currently on Earth. Became non-sentient on arrival, but is still considered alive. |
#42 | Considered by the other Misfits as the "OG". Lives on Ellienias in the Tetra City area. Has a connection with the rest of the 999. (This is the one this article is more specifically about!) |
#112 | Taken up streetbusking with a group of kids to make some space cash. Runs a "milk bar" out of spite of the fact that they won't let him in the regular taverns. Somewhere in France during the 1800's. |
#666 | Real identity of Doom Guy. You know, the one. Really likes chainsaws and energy weapons. Hates demons. Has a pet rabbit. |
#777 | A jester in the Kingdom of God. Trying to come up with a joke The Creator hasn't heard, yet. Has excellent dental. |
#798 | Somewhere in the D&D Universe. Rouge |
We got pictures of some of 'em, too!
#112 - Busker Misfit
#798 - D&D Rouge Misfit
#798 - D&D Rouge Misfit (in a kobold outfit, because that's kinda fun. He's not sure if this is insensitive, but if it is, he apologizes kinda.)
#798 - D&D Rouge Misfit (the time he was turned into a Sapphire Dragon.)
So, what's #42's story, since he seems to be the "OG"?
Honestly, he hasn't been around that long, so having an "early life"... well, we're in that part of his story. :P He's only been in the "Real World" for a few years. There are a few things that've happened, though.
The earliest thing Misfit remembers is waking up in a factory, leaving, exploring, getting shunned by society because he's "creepy" and hiding out on rooftops. It wasn't a good time for 'em. Had to avoid most people just to get something to eat. No money means you've gotta go survival mode and steal. Fortunately, he didn't end up getting caught during this time or gaining much notoriety. The stealth game worked pretty well for him, being small and able to stuff yourself in boxes and like... scoot a bit forward when cameras aren't looking and freeze when they are. The local bakery was confused as all about these sentient boxes, but who'd expect a stuffed animal, right?
Eventually he found himself amongst some Circdelids, who raised him in their small troop of street performers called Streetsteppers. Kind of fitting, being a jester creature, really. This is how he also developed a love for entertaining people. So, depsite having a bad start with society, he learned there's a lot of good, too. He even made a bit of his own routines, telling jokes, magic tricks and a variety of rather dangerous tricks that he wasn't terribly good at... which became part of the act. Seriously, you can get away with injuring yourself a lot more when you don't have vitals to destroy. The only thing he avoids is fire. Thaaaat's a weakness and a fear. Guy is made of fabric. Whaddagonnado?
Of course, they didn't exactly live in a friendly area of town. Western Tetra City is a bit of a cesspool of petty crime and the troop was stolen from often, looked down on by the rich and rude.... which is where he developed The Three R's. Eventually, he made an alternate persona for himself named Hokan, in which he would start doing petty crimes concerning these types, either vandalizing or stealing from them, leaving the proceeds for the Streetsteppers, leaving, taking off his persona in private and coming back all like "oh wow Hokan huh? that's craaazy~!" Eventually, they started being rather well off and started doing their shows in charity for others. This did wonders for their popularity and they now do the occasional event. Still a small time troop, but never the less, they've got a good reputation. Also, because of this, Misfit now steals from bigger targets and gives to the poor himself. Think of... let's say Robin Hood, but way more wacky and neon colored.
Someday, the Streetsteppers hope to open their own circus, as does Misfit. They've got a long ways to go, though, but hey... Misfit can't complain. Though Misfit does a lot less busking now and a lot more crime. It's become more of a hobby than anything, really. He kinda likes keeping the rich and rude paranoid doing goofy pranks and such.
Things really started changing for himself when he found out there are others like him out there, now named Plushcritters, that are going through the same stuff he was. He managed to wrangle a bunch of them together in one place just outside of the city in a treehouse and opened up a kind of foster home and busking group of his own. He still keeps in touch with the Streetsteppers, but he's now busy taking care of his own troop, which he dubbed Misfit's House of Clowns and Jesters and General Goofballs, Who Do Streetbusking Things For Your Pocket Change... people just call is "Misfit's House of Clowns" for short.
Oh, and he certainly still does the Hokan thing. Now he's got a couple "brothers" he does so with, too, namely Mischief Zipperteeth and Mayhem Zipperteeth. Not literally brothers, but Misfit actually made a Wish of his own once for family, finding a Star Shard of his own one day, and ended up with two "brothers" the next morning. They jokingly refer to themselves as Misfit #1001 and #0 respectfully. They picked those out. :P As for the Flux created by the Wish.... oddly, nothing happened. They aren't sure where the Flux went.

Motivation
Misfit wants to collect enough Star Shards to make a wish that will solidify him and the rest of his Plushcritter bothers and sisters as beings with souls. His fear is that if someone collects up all the shards first to "fix" the wish that brought them to life, he and the rest of the Plushcritters will cease to be. He'd also like to help the Streetsteppers make it big someday.

Vices & Personality flaws
Misfit has a slight case of kleptomania, especially for any trinkets and shinnies and useless things like that. He also really likes to commit vandalism to property that's owned by rich people, because he's got a destructive streak and he figures if it's gonna happen, it might as well be on someone who can afford it.
